Hydraulic Ironworkers

For three generations, 50 years, the Dvorak family has been designing, patenting and producing ironworkers for the world.

In 1949, Joe Dvorak invented the first hydraulic ironworker called “The Dvorak Ironworker” which was a scissors type machine.

Joe’s son Jim Dvorak invented the Uni-Hydro Ironworker in 1974 with his own major patents which is a guillotine type machine. Jim Dvorak has 7 United States Patents and 30 plus foreign patents directly related to the metal shearing industry. Jim’s son Chuck Dvorak continued the family tradition by receiving his first ironworker patent in the early 1990’s.

The Uni-Hydro and Dvorak family legacy is enhanced by many long term employees who have contributed their experience in keeping Uni-Hydro Ironworkers & Plate Shears the industry’s highest quality products.

Most Ironworker manufactures rate an ironworker by the P.S.I. (Pounds per Square Inch) tensile strength steel a machine is capable of at maximum capacity. Ratings range from 40,000 to 65,000 PSI tensile strength.

A 36 is a popular mild steel with tensile strength ranging from 58,000 to 80,000. A 60,000 PSI rated ironworker will cut 3 strengths of 58, 59 and 60,000 of A 36 steel.

Uni-Hydro ironworkers cut 8 strengths from 58 to 65,000 of A 36 steel.
